First Home Run & the Win!

Well, we finally broke the horrible streak we were on by getting a win today against Toronto. A special thanks to Gio, he pitched great today!

The past two games have been weird though. First we had Morrow, a local guy, pitching against us…and then today Eveland! I am glad to see that at least Eveland has moved up and is a starting pitcher…good for him.

And in a string of bad luck, with all of the injuries our team is seeing lately, it was nice to see some good happen in today’s game. Our rookie, Donaldson, made his first Major League start today as catcher and not only got his first hit today….but it was a Home Run! What a way to start your Major League career.

Go A’s!

So Close…

A 3 Run Home-Run from Pennington + him and Rosales both had 4 hits each in todays game, and we somehow still lost to the Rays! Oh my.

I must say though, it was a good game. We were down 4-0 in the bottom of the 2nd, which is never good…esp. that early on in the game. But Pennington came back in the 3rd and hit a 3 run shot! Beautiful. We then were able to get bases loaded and scored 1 run. So now…we’re tied, new ball game, right? I wish…

What did they do? They too decide to hit a 3 Run Homer and then a solo…eh. Then to top it off, we might have actually tied them if something went our way. Pennington got a nice hit in right field, that got him to 3rd safely. However once it bounced off the ground, it hit the foul pole, which automatically makes it a ground rule double! I had never heard of that rule before, especially since it hit the ground first and stayed in the park. I don’t know. To me there’s no difference from the ball hitting the wall, but they saw a difference. So as a result we got a run taken away from us.

At least we can saw we played well…and got some good hits.

And on a side note, I want to send a thank you to the LAA…they lost their game tonight, which means we are still 1 1/2 games ahead…it’s a small lead, but hopefully we can gain some ground.

Go A’s!

A New Rule…

There should be a rule in MLB where if you were a former A’s player then you can’t score against us…let alone a 3-Run HR when the score is 0-0 and we are having a pretty good pitching dual.

Thanks a lot Milton Bradley!

Brett Anderson did very well tonight, we just needed some runs, any runs! But sadly we didn’t score a single run tonight. Come on boys, lets get back in the game and play like we have been playing this season.

Go A’s!

Cust Continued…

I’m not sure what Beane was thinking when he put Cust up for assignment. And I’m not alone…it made the homepage of Yahoo! today. Now I know some people aren’t happy with his batting average. Heck, I’ll admit it, it’s not too great. But first off, you can’t judge his performance based on just 50 at bats in Spring Training! That’s crazy! If you’re going to do that, then who’s to say Sheets shouldn’t have been reassigned. He’s had an ERA of 11.2 this season at Spring Training and he hasn’t played in over a year! I’m not saying Sheets should get put on assignment….I’m just trying to make a point that this is ridiculous!

Now like I said, Cust’s batting average hasn’t been great in past seasons, but I think people are forgetting 2 important things:

1) Cust gets on base! Sure it’s not by hits all the time (which is obviously prefered) but he gets walked (a lot)! I don’t know about you, but I would rather see a guy get on base from a walk then walk back to the dugout with 3 strikes and you’re out!

2) He’s our HOME RUN HITTER!! Being in last place last season was no picnic, but we do have some things going for us. So why would you want to take someone who can hit over 25+ home runs a season away?!?!

I just don’t get it…Cust I’ll miss seeing you in our outfield.

Game 1 in Bay Bridge Series

What a game! First off…Duchscherer took the mound and owned it. He went into the bottom of the 4th without a hit off of him. That right there made the game in my opinion. But to add to the fun, in the 1st inning alone, Kouz hit a huge double against Zito that hit off the wall. And to bring him in was Suzuki with a 2-run Home Run!

All in all Duchscherer only had 3 hits against him in 6 innings, but not one run scored. We ended up winning 9-0. I hope this is the start of something great for our A’s. Boy do we need to get out of this slump.
